Colors, type, spacing: what to actually steal from sites you admire
By The WAALEE Team · · 4 min read
"Good artists copy, great artists steal." The trick is knowing what's worth stealing. Some things transfer cleanly between brands; some don't.
Steal these
- The type scale — the ratio between sizes is brand-agnostic and instantly upgrades hierarchy.
- The spacing rhythm — consistent, intentional spacing reads as "designed" more than any single element.
- The restraint — how few colors and weights the site gets away with.
Leave these
Don't lift the exact palette or the literal layout — those belong to the other brand and will always look borrowed. Extract the system, apply your own content and color story, and it becomes yours.
